PARTNER MOVES - Dentons expands real estate and construction capabilities with addition of Alana T. Sliwinski in New York

13 May 2025

Dentons announces that Alana T. Sliwinski has joined the Firm as a partner in its Real Estate practice, based in the New York office. With more than a decade of experience representing real estate owners and developers nationally, Sliwinski advises clients throughout the full development and construction lifecycle for a diverse array of projects, including luxury mixed-use residential, commercial, office, hotel and infrastructure.

Sliwinski’s practice focuses on the structuring, negotiation and drafting of sophisticated construction and design agreements, including EPC, design-build, construction management and architect/engineering contracts. She has advised on developments collectively valued in excess of US$10 billion, delivering practical, business-minded solutions that balance timely deal execution with long-term risk mitigation. Sliwinski leverages her dispute resolution experience to help clients identify potential vulnerabilities early and avoid costly conflicts, whether navigating fast-moving transactions or advising on ongoing project execution.

Sliwinski has spent the majority of her career in private practice. She also gained a unique perspective as in-house counsel when she served as director of legal for Canopy Buildings at Sidewalk Labs (now part of Google), where she managed the legal affairs of the offsite construction startup and advised on a wide range of matters. This included commercial contracting, corporate governance, insurance, operations and product strategy, while helping to develop a scalable legal infrastructure to support Canopy’s mass timber building systems. With this experience, she also acts as external general counsel for a variety of clients, including several in the construction and proptech industries.

“Clients today face increasing pressure to deliver complex projects on time and on budget, while navigating a shifting legal and regulatory landscape,” said Linda White, chair of Dentons’ US Real Estate practice. “Alana’s unique combination of transactional acumen, litigation insight and in-house experience makes her an invaluable partner to clients. She understands what it takes to get a deal done while protecting long-term project value, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the team.”
