12 Feb 2025

Dentons announces that Matthew Neumann has joined the Firm in Indianapolis as a partner in the Energy practice. Matt is a leading Indiana energy lawyer who focuses on all aspects of energy and infrastructure projects, including project development, project finance and project M&A matters across varied industries, sectors and project types. He joins Dentons from Krieg DeVault in Indianapolis.

Matt advises developers in all aspects of energy project development in Indiana and the Midwest, including land use, zoning, permits, real estate, tax, incentives, interconnection, energy markets, supply chain, construction, insurance, environmental, energy regulatory and litigation matters.  His deep experience in the energy and infrastructure space allows him to guide clients through the complete project lifecycle including early-, mid- and late-stage developments, siting, permitting, financing, construction, O&M, repowering, decommissioning and M&A matters.

In his tax equity financing and transactional work, Matt represents sponsors, investors and lenders in the financing of projects and transactions, allowing major renewable energy projects to move forward and come to life. He also advises buyers and sellers in M&A transactions involving energy projects.

“Matt’s deep experience and insight in the energy space will be a great asset for our clients as they continue to seek to develop renewable energy projects in the Midwest,” said Dentons US Region Energy practice co-lead David McGimpsey. “He is a leading lawyer in debt and tax equity financing for energy projects, and we are thrilled to have him on our team.”

Matt’s experience extends to all types of energy and infrastructure projects, including wind, solar, battery storage, data centers, carbon sequestration, green hydrogen, traditional gas- and coal-fired facilities, pipelines, mines and production and manufacturing facilities.

“We continue to add top lawyers like Matt who have the skills and experience our clients need to achieve their legal and business objectives locally, nationally and globally. We are delighted to welcome Matt to Dentons,” said Managing Partner Keith Bice.
