Dentons has hired experienced financial regulatory partner Andrew Barber to its growing UK Regulatory and Investigations team. Andrew rejoins the firm from Pinsent Masons, having previously been a Managing Associate at Dentons. Andrew joins a growing list of partners who have moved back to Dentons, and he follows in the footsteps of Steph Innes and Sue Moore, both of whom rejoined the firm in recent times.
A dual-qualified lawyer in Australia and England and Wales, Andrew previously held positions at a number of leading law firms as well as in-house at Barclays Wealth.
Andrew has broad experience across the UK's regulation of retail financial services and fintech, in particular on payment services, consumer credit and mortgages.
He has extensive experience advising on strategic matters, including new product design, systemic business issues, material interactions with the FCA and the latest regulatory and industry developments.
He acts for banks, insurers, payment firms, fintechs and consumer finance businesses, advising them throughout their regulatory and product lifecycles including on outsourcing matters.
Andrew's appointment strengthens Dentons' ability to offer specialist regulatory advice to its financial services clients.
Paul Jarvis, CEO of Dentons' UK, Ireland and Middle East (UKIME) region said, It's great to have Andrew back at Dentons. Our cross-team Fintech practice led by Tristan Jonckheer, has seen an increased demand for this type of specialist financial regulatory knowledge. With the uptick in M&A activity and ever-increasing regulation, we expect to see this trend continue, so it is great to have Andrew onboard.
Katharine Harle, Head of Dentons' UK Regulatory and Investigations team, added, Andrew's appointment will help us unlock more transactional and advisory mandates where expertise in retail financial services regulation, and its application to innovative technology businesses, specifically experience of consumer credit and payment services, is an essential component of client mandates. I look forward to working with Andrew on expanding this key growth area for our Regulatory and Investigations practice.
