DLA Piper has announced it is further strengthening its International Projects practice with the addition of new partner Iain Elder from Shearman & Sterling, who will be based in London, UK.
Iain joins the firm from Shearman and Sterling, where he has been a partner since 2010, focusing primarily on the energy sector in emerging markets throughout the Middle East, Africa and CIS.
Iain has built his practice by advising sponsors and lenders on high-value, complex project financed power, including conventional thermal, nuclear and renewables, and mid / downstream projects, which are often the “first in-kind and first in-country”. Most recently, his focus has been on opportunities within the energy transition sector such as advising on the unique, pathfinder, 2GW NEOM Green Hydrogen Project in Saudi Arabia.
Colin Wilson, Head of International Projects at DLA Piper, said:
""We are delighted to welcome Iain to the team. He will be a key part in allowing our International Projects practice to take advantage of the opportunity to further grow the firm’s profile in the international energy transition and renewables sector. Iain’s client relationships and industry knowledge will further strengthen our team, and along with other recent hires further demonstrates our investment as a leading international projects business in the fast evolving global energy and infrastructure sectors.""
