Global law firm DLA Piper has appointed leading finance partner David Kirkland as a partner in its Sydney office.
David brings a wealth of experience and a strong reputation in the leveraged finance and acquisition finance sectors.
“David is a leading finance partner in Australia with long-standing relationships with major financial institutions and private equity firms. We are very pleased to have David on board to grow our practice in this important area,” said Amber Matthews, Australia Country Managing Partner, DLA Piper.
Alyson Eather, Australian Head of the Finance Practice Group, said David's extensive experience will further strengthen the firm's transactional capabilities.
With extensive experience at leading firms, he has demonstrated exceptional skill in managing complex financial transactions and possesses a deep understanding of the market's intricacies, Alyson said.
Commenting on his appointment, David said he’s delighted to be joining the team.
“DLA Piper has shown a clear commitment to expand its transactional offering, and I am extremely excited to help to grow the firm's presence in the debt finance space, said David.
The collaborative nature of the DLA Piper's platform, coupled with its international footprint, will ensure that I am able to service my clients in all key markets, and I look forward to working with the broader team as we continue to focus on private capital and other drivers of economic activity, he added.
David's appointment follows recent partner hires of private capital lawyer Chris Allen and Funds specialist Jon Ireland who joined the firm in April 2024 and November 2023, respectively.
