PARTNER MOVES - Emil R. Infante joins DLA Piper’s Corporate and Finance practice in Miami

06 Nov 2014

DLA Piper has announced that Emil R. Infante has joined the firm’s Corporate and Finance practice as a partner in Miami. Infante represents clients in matters related to securities, financial regulation, banking, family office services, and cross-border transactions. He has a particular focus on counseling companies with business interests and operations in Latin America and the Caribbean.

“Emil bolsters a strong cross-border team. As our corporate clients continue to expand their operations in South Florida, Latin America and around the world, his sophisticated transactional experience will further enhance our ability to provide sound counsel to those entering new and emerging markets,” said Joseph Alexander, DLA Piper’s Southeast US managing partner and Southeast US chair of the firm’s Corporate and Private Equity practice. “His arrival also underscores our ability to grow a regional presence through the addition of high-quality laterals across a number of strategic practice areas.”

Reflecting DLA Piper’s strong position in the marketplace, the firm recently announced a new long-term lease for 45,000 square feet located at Southeast Financial Center, Florida’s tallest and largest office tower and plaza in Miami’s Central Business District.

Infante joins from Foley & Lardner and, prior to that, was the co-founder and managing partner at Infante Zumpano, where he represented individuals and corporate clients in the US and Latin America. He began his career as an associate with the Financial Services Roundtable in Washington, DC, and he later was an investment advisor working with professional athletes and other high net worth individuals.

“Emil acts as an outside general counsel to many of his clients, advising on family and business matters while also handling significant acquisitions and divestitures, among other transactions,” said Jay Smith, chair of DLA Piper’s US Corporate and Finance practice. “His entrepreneurial background and deep financial services knowledge across a range of jurisdictions is an ideal fit for our platform.”

Infante received a B.A. from Sacred Heart University, an LL.M from Georgetown, an M.A. from University of Dayton, and a J.D. from St. Mary’s University School.
