PARTNER MOVES - Eversheds Sutherland ramps up financial services regulatory offering with new partner hire

21 Mar 2024

Eversheds Sutherland has ramped up its financial services regulatory capability with the appointment of new Partner, Tim Fosh.

Tim joins from Slaughter and May where he advised on transactional and non-transactional matters for both financial and (traditionally) non-financial institutions.

His particular focus is in banking, securities, derivatives and cryptoassets regulation, regularly advising an array of different clients in relation to capital requirements and transactional structuring, regulatory change projects and the establishment and authorisation of new financial services businesses.

Tim also advises a number of regulated and unregulated FinTech entities at different stages of their development on a range of matters including when regulatory permission is required and how best to structure a group to ensure regulatory efficiency.

His clients include established financial institutions such as multinational banks, insurers and asset management companies, a variety of start-up FinTech firms and a significant number of renewable energy providers and manufacturing firms.

Tim is ranked as a ‘Rising Star’ in the latest edition of industry legal directory, Legal 500 and is ‘…noted for his expertise in transactional structuring and the UK bank ring-fencing regime’.

Michaela Walker, Partner and European Head of Financial Services Sector, Eversheds Sutherland, commented:

“Tim brings a wonderful repertoire of legal technical knowledge and commercial aptitude, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the team. His notable experience of advising FinTechs also fits very nicely with our areas of focus of tech in financial services.

“Given the ever-increasing burden of regulation, the importance of being able to provide a first-class financial services regulatory offering to our clients couldn’t be more evident. Tim is a great addition to the team and will be a welcomed reinforcement in helping us to address the many complex issues being faced by our clients.”

Tim Fosh, Partner, Eversheds Sutherland, commented:

“I’m very excited to be joining Eversheds Sutherland and becoming part of its highly reputable financial services team. The depth and breadth of its client base are notable and complement my areas of specialism and experience. I’m looking forward to drawing on this to further enhance our existing capability and help meet client demand.”
