A highly ranked, vastly experienced IP litigator with a career spanning 25 years, Joel joins Simmons from the London office of another international law firm.
Joel’s practice covers multiple areas across IP at the premium end of the market, with a particular focus on contentious matters relating to trade marks, copyright and trade secrets. He has frequently represented large global companies, advising them on highly complex, cross-border mandates.
While having operated across several sectors, he brings expertise in the technology, media and telecommunications (TMT), financial institutions (FI) and health and life sciences (HLS) sectors; aligning with Simmons’ sector focus.
Based in London, Joel has previously operated out of a number of jurisdictions over the course of his career, including Hong Kong, Milan and Sydney. He was formerly Chair of The City of London Law Society IP Committee.
The partner hire is expected to significantly enhance Simmons’ IP capabilities, allowing the firm to respond to increased demand globally for its services.
