Dentons announces that former Surface Transportation Board (STB) Associate General Counsel Theodore (Ted) Hunt has joined the Firm’s Federal Regulatory and Compliance practice as a partner. Hunt offers clients a wealth of experience in transportation and environmental regulation and litigation.
During his more than 13 years with the STB, Hunt gained a deep understanding of the regulatory and legal issues that arise in the transportation sector. While with the STB, Hunt advised on virtually all matters related to rail line construction, rail line discontinuance and abandonment, rail mergers and acquisitions, disputes between Amtrak and freight rail carriers, as well as federal preemption and other jurisdictional issues. Hunt also defended numerous STB decisions in United States Courts of Appeals across the country.
“Ted brings a deep knowledge of regulatory proceedings regarding rail transportation issues to his role with Dentons,” said Mike Zolandz, chair of Dentons' Federal Regulatory and Compliance practice and managing partner of Dentons’ Washington, DC, office. “His vast experience will be invaluable to clients as we continue to assist them in navigating the constantly-evolving regulatory landscape, particularly in the transportation sector.”
Prior to joining the STB, Hunt primarily worked on environmental matters as a trial lawyer at the US Department of Justice as well as in private practice.
