PARTNER MOVES - Fried Frank expands its European private equity funds group with the addition of Aranpreet Randhawa

22 Jan 2025

Fried Frank announced that Aranpreet Randhawa has joined the firm as a partner in its global Asset Management Practice, based in London. She joins from Proskauer, where she was a partner in the firm’s private funds group.

Randhawa advises European and international clients on the structuring, formation and operation of both open- and closed-ended investment funds across a range of strategies, including private equity, growth, infrastructure and real estate. She also counsels clients on spinouts, co-investments, end-of-life restructurings, and carried interest and co-investment schemes.

“Aranpreet brings significant experience advising clients on the formation, operation and maintenance of private investment funds, both in Europe and globally,” said Kenneth I. Rosh, Fried Frank chairman and head of the firm’s Private Equity Funds Group. “As we continue to grow our practice and strengthen our global platform, the addition of Aranpreet demonstrates our strong commitment to offering our clients top-tier advice on all aspects of fund formation.”

“Aranpreet is a talented fund formation lawyer and her comprehensive skill set aligns perfectly with our premier Asset Management Practice and team in London,” added Kate Downey, partner and head of the firm’s European Private Equity Funds Practice. “Her arrival reinforces our market-leading group of global advisors to some of the world’s largest and most complex private funds.”

“Aranpreet is a valuable enhancement to our Asset Management Practice,” said Ashar Qureshi, managing partner of Fried Frank’s London office. “We are thrilled to welcoming her to our growing London office.”

Led by partners Lawrence N. Barshay and Kenneth I. Rosh in the United States and Kate Downey in Europe, Fried Frank’s global Asset Management Practice provides top-tier advice on all aspects of funds, managed accounts and other investment vehicles, including fund formation, negotiation of managed accounts and advisory agreements, structuring management companies and compensation arrangements, spinouts, seeding and stakes transactions, documentation of prime brokerage and other trading arrangements and advice regarding ongoing operations. The practice is consistently top-ranked by Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 in both the United States and United Kingdom, and has been recognized as one of Law360's Practice Groups of the Year for five of the past six years.

This announcement follows a series of strategic hires across Fried Frank’s New York and London offices over the past year. Notable additions include Roger Schofield, who joined as partner in the Corporate Real Estate Practice in London, and a trio of partners – Rachel C. Strickland, Daniel I. Forman and Andrew S.  Mordkoff – who formed the new global Restructuring Department in New York. The firm also welcomed Christian Iwasko, Michelle Tong and Priya Rupal as partners in the M&A and Private Equity Practice in London, Cameron Mitcham as partner in the Finance Practice in London, Amy Johnson and Audra Cohen as partners in the Asset Management Practice in New York, Monica Thurmond as partner in the Finance Practice in New York and Todd Pollock as partner in the Tax Department in New York.
