PARTNER MOVES - Global Natural Resources and ECM Expert Joins Squire Patton Boggs’ Corporate Practice

16 Oct 2014

Squire Patton Boggs has appointed Adam Hastings as partner in its Global Corporate Practice. Mr. Hastings, who will be based in the firm’s Leeds office, was previously of counsel at Hogan Lovells.

An experienced corporate transactional lawyer, Mr. Hastings specializes in equity capital markets (ECM), M&A and related work. He advises companies and investment banks,  particularly those operating in the international mining, resources and energy sectors.  He also has an in-depth knowledge of emerging markets such as Africa.  Mr. Hastings, who qualified as a lawyer in New South Wales, has over 12 years’ experience advising global businesses.

Jane Haxby, EMEA Chair of the Global Corporate Practice, said: “Adam will be a great addition to our group. He brings great new insight and experience to our equity capital markets team in the UK and Australia, and complements very well our global capabilities.  His international track record and industry focus reinforces the deep expertise that makes our Global Corporate Practice so effective in the areas of equity capital markets and in sectors such as natural resources and energy.”

Adam Hastings added, “I’m delighted to be part of the Squire Patton Boggs team.  I was really attracted to the entrepreneurial spirit and commercial know-how that spans the whole firm. And Squire Patton Boggs’ extensive international presence provides an excellent platform for clients who are looking at strategic fundraising or M&A transactions around the globe. It not only has strong corporate teams in all key financial and commercial hubs, but also the expertise in US securities, debt capital markets, and in dozens of legal specialisms such as competition, tax, and regulatory, which are essential for deals to succeed and flourish.”

The appointment of Adam Hastings follows the recent expansion of the global Corporate Practice Group with the appointment of partner Simon Rear, who joined Squire Patton Boggs’ Perth office with a team of lawyers from Allion Legal earlier in September, significantly strengthening the firm’s skills and expertise in the mining and  natural resources sector.
