PARTNER MOVES - Jones Day welcomes Corporate Criminal Investigations partner Aldo Verbruggen in Amsterdam

27 May 2015

Jones Day is pleased to announce that Aldo Verbruggen has joined the Firm's Corporate Criminal Investigations Practice as a partner in the Amsterdam Office. Mr. Verbruggen, well known for his experience in high-profile cases involving corporate criminal law, will be joined by two experienced lawyers, Hansje van den Noort and Tessa van Roomen, both of whom join the Firm from Houthoff Buruma in the Netherlands.

Luc Houben, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Amsterdam Office, said: "Increasingly, companies and financial institutions are faced with highly sensitive internal and external investigations, often with multi-jurisdictional dimensions. Aldo is one of the most prominent lawyers in the Netherlands in the field of corporate investigations and corporate criminal law. The arrival of Aldo and his two team members will allow us to offer our clients high quality service and experience in their most sensitive issues, and fits in very well with the Firm’s global reach and focus."

Ted Chung, Partner-in-Charge of the Firm's global Corporate Criminal Investigations Practice, added: "Aldo's arrival at Jones Day, as well as that of his team, allows us to further represent our clients in connection with governmental enforcement actions and corporate investigations in the Netherlands, the EU, and beyond. We welcome his experience and nuanced approach to these important matters, both for our current and prospective clients."

Mr. Verbruggen, who previously served in the Dutch Public Prosecutor’s office, commented: "I am very much looking forward to joining Jones Day, which is one of the world's leading firms in the fields of corporate investigations and financial and economic criminal law. Because of Jones Day’s global reach, and given the increasingly international scope of these investigations, we believe that we will be in an excellent position to assist our clients on these often very delicate matters. In a very short time, Jones Day has been able to position itself at the top of the legal profession in the Netherlands. With our team’s knowledge and experience, I am confident that we can contribute to the further strengthening of the Amsterdam Office and Jones Day globally."

Mr. Verbruggen is President of Amade Nederland, an international charitable organization that is committed to children's rights. Additionally, he serves as chairman of the Friends for Life Foundation, member of the editorial board of the Journal of Special Criminal Law and Enforcement, and member of The International Chamber of Commerce Netherlands (ICC), Committee on Corruption and Bribery.
