King & Spalding announced that renowned technology litigator and trial lawyer Neel Chatterjee has joined the firm’s Business Litigation practice group as a partner and co-leader of the group’s Intellectual Property team. He is based in the firm’s Silicon Valley office.
Chatterjee is an internationally recognized IP and technology litigator who has led matters for Silicon Valley’s most well-known technology companies. He represents entrepreneurs and disruptive technology companies in their complex disputes, including those related to patents, trade secrets, copyrights, internet law and complex commercial technology issues.
“Neel is a world-class IP and technology litigator, and his arrival adds significant practice and industry heft to our client offering. He is a leader in the Bay Area legal community, and he brings meaningful regional presence for us in a critical market where we are focused on growing,” said Damien Marshall, co-leader of the firm’s Business Litigation practice group. “Trials are a well-known strength for King & Spalding, and Neel’s incredible trial track record builds on that while also bringing the proven leadership and mentoring skills we deeply value. Chatterjee joins the firm from Goodwin Procter, where he previously served on the Executive Committee. Chambers USA ranks him as a leading IP lawyer at both the national and state levels, Legal 500 US has named him a Hall of Fame trade secrets lawyer, and he has earned numerous other accolades. He received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and his J.D. from Vanderbilt Law School, where he now serves as President of the Board of Advisors.

Chatterjee is the sixth partner to join King & Spalding in California in the past year, including private equity and M&A lawyer Joseph Halloum who joined in Silicon Valley; former Google regulatory and litigation counsel Benjamin Softness, who joined in San Francisco; and former Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals judge Paul Watford, former Assistant U.S. Attorney Will Rollins, and e-Discovery product liability and mass torts lawyer Chris Costello, all of whom joined in Los Angeles.
