King & Spalding announced that structured finance lawyer Dan Marcus has joined its Finance and Restructuring practice group as a partner. He is based in the firm’s London office.
Marcus represents clients on structured financing transactions across a wide array of structures and asset classes, with a particular focus on the intersection between securitisation and fund financing in the UK, Europe and the U.S. Marcus specialises in ABLs and other fund financings containing securitisation or structured finance features such as CFOs, rated note feeders, single asset back leverage and warehouse facilities. Marcus is a key advisor in relation to complex features being added to more traditional fund finance products, including advising on the first capital call facility in Europe achieving securitisation regulatory treatment. Marcus advises banks, alternative lenders and asset managers.
“Dan is a versatile lawyer who will play a critical role as we further build out our structured finance capabilities in London and Europe, and he will also be an important asset to our wider global finance team,” said Carolyn Alford, co-leader for the firm’s Finance and Restructuring practice group. “Dan brings a sophisticated understanding of and an excellent reputation within the structured finance and fund finance markets, in particular, and further enhances the fund finance offering we expanded last year when we brought on a new team in London.”
Marcus joins the firm from Latham & Watkins. He earned his undergraduate degree in Law from LSE and his LPC from the College of Law, Moorgate.
“King & Spalding has been investing heavily in its Finance and Restructuring practice and has exhibited great momentum in London, making it an exciting time for me to join,” Marcus added. “The firm’s strong transatlantic focus and expansive global platform is especially attractive, and I am looking forward to the opportunities it will provide me to continue to grow my practice.”
