PARTNER MOVES - KWM bolsters London office with four new partner hires

27 Apr 2015

King & Wood Mallesons continues to bolster its capabilities in London with the hire of four new partners to the Real Estate and Commerce & Technology practices.

The quartet of new hires include Real Estate partners Simon Burson, George Burrha, and Jeremy Brooks, along with Telecommunications and Technology Projects specialist James Walsh, who all join from Eversheds.

The four new partners, along with a team of five associates, will join Eversheds’ former international head of Real Estate William Naunton, former London head of Tax Clive Jones and former London senior partner and head of Real Estate Cornelius Medvei, who joined the firm in January.

The hires bolster the firm's strategy to develop structured, high-end real estate, which support its current and growing client demands as well as the wider development of the Corporate practice as a whole.

William Boss, European & Middle East Managing Partner at King & Wood Mallesons, said: “We have made 15 partner hires across our region this financial year, all of whom have made a significant and immediate impact to our business from both a client and people perspective. Our new hires are dynamic partners who fit perfectly into our strategic objectives as a firm. The commercial and business focused approach they bring to clients will help us to continue to grow the key areas of focus for our firm and we are delighted to be able to welcome them to our teams.”

This news follows the culmination of a period of sustained activity for our Real Estate team over the last 12 months, which has highlighted the breadth and depth of King & Wood Mallesons’ structured real estate offering.  Over the year, the team has led on Invesco’s disposal of 1 Finsbury Circus to China Overseas Holdings Limited, British Land’s sale of Ropemaker Place to an AXA led consortium for £472 million, as well as advising China Investment Corporation/Invesco on its joint venture acquisition and refinancing of Winchester House, the Deutsche Bank London HQ.

The appointments of Simon, George, Jeremy and James support the firm’s strategic direction in bolstering its partnership through a string of recent partner hires including global Energy & Infrastructure partner James Douglass, Nuclear specialist Ian Wood and French Energy & Infrastructure specialist Richard Mugni. The firm’s Litigation capability was further enhanced with the hire of Fraud Chief, Ian Hargreaves, International Arbitration specialist Andrei Yakovlev and leading Patent Litigation partner Campbell Forsyth.

Boss added: “We have focused on building the strength and depth of our global firm to enable us to offer our clients the very best service to meet their business aspirations, as we continue to capitalise on our unique offering in the global market. We have made enormous progress as a firm, which has led to a significant phase of renewal, and we will continue to hire the best collegiate and relationship focused talent for our business.”
