PARTNER MOVES - Linda Roxburgh joins Stephenson Harwood as partner

25 Feb 2025

Law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has strengthened its maritime, trade and offshore finance practice with the addition of partner Linda Roxburgh. Linda joins the firm in London from Wikborg Rein LLP, having previously spent more than a decade at magic circle firm Allen & Overy (now A&O Shearman).

Linda specialises in all aspects of transactional yachting and superyachting, including construction, conversion and refit contracts, sale and purchase agreements, ownership structuring and registration, financing, and chartering.  Linda's clients include UHNWIs, HNWIs, private family offices, designers, project managers, financial institutions and arrangers. Consequently, Linda has experience in all elements of the yacht and superyacht sector.

Linda also has extensive experience in undertaking complex commercial maritime finance work including structured secured and unsecured financings, sale and purchase, leasing and long-term charter agreements, and construction and conversion contracts. Linda works on complex, multinational projects and her clients include owners, financial institutions, leasing companies and private equity houses, and project sponsors.

Linda's skill set aligns perfectly with our dynamic strategy for the firm's maritime practice and the superyacht team in particular. Linda's addition is the latest in a series of significant hires across our international network of offices, said Ian Mace, global head of the maritime trade and offshore finance group at Stephenson Harwood. The maritime sector is a key area of strategic focus for the firm and our superyacht team remains a core element of that strategy; we continue to actively pursue senior hires in this space. Linda's experience and knowledge adds a further dimension to our cross-practice superyacht expertise, building on our existing contracts, disputes, finance, corporate and private wealth team expertise.

As the yachting industry grows, the demand for specialised legal capability continues to increase, said Ezio Dal Maso, head of Stephenson Harwood's superyacht practice, based in Paris. Linda's expertise in transactional yachting bolsters the firm's strong international practice. Continuing to grow our team in London is crucial given the city's role as a hub for yacht brokers and family offices, and further enhances our ability to serve clients in this thriving sector.

Stephenson Harwood's dedicated international yacht and superyacht team has extensive experience providing specialist advice in relation to a broad range of yacht and superyacht issues, including new-builds, sale and purchase, chartering, financing, dispute resolution, insurance and management. The team acts for ultra-high net worth individuals, high net worth individuals and family offices, builders, brokers, financiers, managers and charterers across the key yachting jurisdictions.
