06 Jun 2025

Global law firm Clifford Chance is pleased to announce that María Guinot has been appointed as a partner in its Litigation & Dispute Resolution team, boosting its commercial litigation and regulatory investigations offering, with a particular focus on the financial services sector. She will join the firm in the coming weeks.
A State Attorney of the Kingdom of Spain on leave of absence, María Guinot is a renowned practitioner with over twenty years' experience advising on all fields relating to public authorities and regulated sectors, with a strong focus on the financial services sector. Senior positions held while she worked for the Spanish Public Administration, included acting as Director of Regulation and Compliance at SAREB, public entity which manages and liquidates impaired assets (loans and real estate) from financial institutions requiring public aid. In the past decade, she has led Deloitte's Legal Division in Spain and CMS Spain's Regulated Sectors practice.

Matthew Newick, Global Head of Litigation & Dispute Resolution states: María's impressive track record in commercial litigation and regulatory investigations, particularly in the financial services sector, will no doubt provide us with a significant competitive advantage in the Spanish market, helping our clients to address increased regulatory pressure and mitigate risk.

Fernando Irurzun, Head of Litigation & Dispute Resolution in Spain, added: María joins at an excellent time for our practice in Spain, which is building on sustained growth. Her wide experience and market reputation will prove invaluable for our clients.
