Mayer Brown announced that George Belcher has joined the firm as a partner in its Corporate & Securities practice and Global Insurance Industry Group in London. George joins from Skadden, and has previously worked at other leading international and insurance-focused firms.
George's practice focuses on insurance-related M&A, as well as regulatory issues in the insurance sector. He has a broad based practice with life & annuity and non-life experience. He also advises on matters related to Lloyd's of London.
Colin Scagell, London-based partner in Mayer Brown’s Global Insurance Industry Group, said: “George's experience strongly complements our existing practice and further enhances the advice we can offer to clients on a wide range of corporate (re) insurance structures in both the life and non-life sectors.”
David Alberts, co-leader of the Global Insurance Industry Group, added: “George is a great addition to our corporate practice and our market-leading insurance team. It is very pleasing to observe the continued growth of our team in London.
George's arrival follows that of Tom MacAulay, who joined as a partner in the Corporate & Securities practice and Global Insurance Industry Group in London in September.
