PARTNER MOVES - New Milan partner expands global private equity practice

22 Sep 2022

Squire Patton Boggs has further expanded its global Private Equity Practice in Europe with the appointment of Corporate partner Sara Belotti who joins the firm’s Milan office from Baker McKenzie.

Ms. Belotti’s arrival follows that of private equity lawyers Anthony Guillaume, who has joined the firm in Paris, and Teresa Zueco and a six-lawyer team who arrived in Madrid last November, and four new partners in London over the past 12 months.

With a practice focused on M&A, private equity and capital markets, Ms. Belotti has a successful track record in cross-border and multi-jurisdictional transactions, advising a range of Italian and global organisations, including international private equity firms. She also has experience advising on FDI-related foreign investment in sectors such as healthcare and energy. She was previously at Lombardi Segni e Associati, where she specialised in private equity.

“Sara is a ‘deal-maker’ with skills and experience complementary to our existing team and we are very pleased to welcome her to the firm,” said Paul Mann, head of the European Private Equity Practice. “As one of the fastest growing teams in Europe, we have more than doubled the number of specialist partners working in this area over the past two years as a result of successfully broadening the scope and depth of the work we do in the PE sector. Sara’s arrival, alongside senior additions in London, Madrid and Paris, means we are well-placed to seamlessly advise clients on PE transaction across Europe and indeed globally.”

Galileo Pozzoli, managing partner of the firm’s Milan office, added: “Sara is a dynamic and well-connected lawyer. She has been successful in establishing relationships with European and US funds who are opening offices and investing in Italy, and we believe that she will play an important role in our efforts to provide them with a fully integrated European service.”

Commenting on her appointment, Ms. Belotti said, “The prospect of joining Squire Patton Boggs, a firm which is fast making a name for itself in private equity, is exciting and I am very much looking forward to working with my new colleagues in Milan and around the world to deliver a premier service to clients.”

Squire Patton Boggs’ global Private Equity Practice comprises specialist corporate lawyers, experienced in advising private equity and venture capital investors, investee companies and management teams. The team supports clients throughout the complete private equity and venture capital investment cycle. The Private Equity Practice continues to expand, with nearly 25 PE lawyers added in the past two years.
