PARTNER MOVES - Sidley continues its London expansion by adding leading capital markets partner David Stewart

Sidley is pleased to announce that David Stewart has joined Sidley’s Capital Markets practice as partner in London. He arrives from Latham & Watkins LLP, where he was co-chair of their London corporate practice.

Mr. Stewart has a broad cross-border international practice for debt and equity capital markets. He is well-known for his work on complex transactions in public markets from fixed income products to international listed equity, including the regulatory and capital markets aspects of public M&A and restructurings. Mr. Stewart’s client base includes some of the leading issuers, sponsors, strategic investors, and global investment banks.

“David’s international capital markets practice across Europe, the U.S., and the Middle East is highly synergetic with our existing global capital markets offering. He will help us continue to scale the platform for the benefit of our clients,” said Yvette Ostolaza, Sidley’s Management Committee chair. “David’s relationships with the leading global investment banks is significant as many of our clients are increasing their appetite to finance strategic growth through debt and equity capital markets.”

Sidley has made a number of significant additions in London over the last 12 months with a group of eight Leveraged Finance partners led by Jay Sadanandan and Sam Hamilton, also from Latham & Watkins LLP, including Capital Markets partners Scott Colwell and Patrick Kwak, as well as Global Finance partners Fergus O’Domhnaill, Joe Kimberling, Ben Wright, and Tania Bedi. The office also added partners Ben Thompson (Infrastructure Finance) and Clive Gringras (AI and Tech).

Sidley’s Capital Markets team includes more than 260 lawyers around the globe located in key international financial and industry centers. The team represent issuers, underwriters, and other participants in structuring and executing securities transactions in all of the world’s major financial markets. Sidley’s lawyers regularly work on matters involving the securities regulators and the securities exchanges in those markets.
