PARTNER MOVES - Sidley strengthens capital markets practice with London partner Vladimir Mikhailovsky

14 May 2025

Sidley is pleased to announce that Vladimir Mikhailovsky has joined Sidley’s Capital Markets practice as partner in London. He arrives from Latham & Watkins LLP where he was a partner in their Capital Markets practice.

Mr. Mikhailovsky advises issuers, underwriters, and other financial intermediaries in capital markets and finance transactions across the entire capital structure. He has a broad and diversified international practice for debt and equity capital markets with a deep knowledge in advising clients on complex, multi-jurisdictional debt and financing products, including regulatory aspects of cross-border transactions. In addition to his capital markets experience, Mr. Mikhailovsky has also worked on restructuring, derivatives, and project finance matters. He also counsels companies on sanctions issues relating to their investments.

“Vladimir is the second significant partner addition in the space of a few weeks, following the arrival of David Stewart, as we broaden our international capital markets practice across Europe, the U.S., and the Middle East,” said Yvette Ostolaza, Sidley’s Management Committee chair. “Our Capital Markets practice in London has become a powerhouse, and Vladimir will add further strength to our capabilities in this area.”

“Vladimir has strong and close relationships with many leading investment banks, increasing our ability and bench strength to service capital market transactions for our sponsor clients,” said Tom Thesing, managing partner of Sidley’s London office and a member of the Management and Executive Committees. “Vladimir is well-known to many of our clients, and he has worked closely with a number of Sidley partners that have joined our London office recently. His addition demonstrates our continued investment in growing our elite platform.”

Sidley has made a number of significant additions in London over the last 12 months with a group of eight Leveraged Finance partners led by Jay Sadanandan and Sam Hamilton, also from Latham & Watkins LLP, including Capital Markets partners Scott Colwell and Patrick Kwak, as well as Global Finance partners Fergus O’Domhnaill, Joe Kimberling, Ben Wright, and Tania Bedi. They were joined by Global Markets partner David Stewart and most recently Private Funds partner Ed Gander. The office also added partners Ben Thompson (Infrastructure Finance) and Clive Gringras (AI and Tech).
