PARTNER MOVES - Simmons announces the arrival of Mary Serhal as partner

23 Jan 2024

The Paris office of Simmons & Simmons announced the arrival of Mary Serhal as a partner in the Financial Markets department, headed by Ian Rogers. This recruitment illustrates the firm's desire to continue developing its expertise in bank financing, one of its flagship practices. After the recruitment of Arnaud Félix, the arrival of a 31st partner also underlines the sustained growth of Simmons in Paris.

Mary Serhal is a specialist in banking and financial law, and more precisely in financing of acquisitions (LBO), corporate, funds and restructuring. Its multiple expertise allows it to support financial institutions, banks, debt funds, investment funds and large groups on domestic and international operations.

Mary Serhal declares: “ I am very happy to join Simmons, who is experiencing remarkable dynamism in the Paris market. Its international network as well as its multidisciplinary offer were determining elements in my choice. I am delighted to work hand in hand with Colin Millar, whom I have known for over 20 years and whose reputation in the market is well established. I will also have the opportunity to develop synergies with other teams, in particular with the Corporate team where I will notably find Simonetta Giordano and Arnaud Félix with whom I have worked in the past. .

Jacques-Antoine Robert, Managing Partner of the Paris office , adds: “ We are delighted with the arrival of Mary in our Paris office. Welcoming such an experienced and qualified profile, whose expertise is recognized internationally, is part of our overall growth strategy. This arrival, combined with the know-how of our teams, will allow us to strengthen our banking practice. .

A lawyer at the Paris and Beirut bars, Mary Serhal is a graduate of Saint-Joseph University of Beirut, the Beirut Higher School of Business (MBA) and HEC Paris. She began her career at Gide Loyrette Nouel in Paris, before joining Simmons & Simmons and White & Case in Doha, then Clifford Chance in Paris. Before joining Simmons in Paris, she worked in an independent French firm.
