International law firm Simmons & Simmons has announced Kay Morley's appointment as a partner in its London-based Restructuring and Special Situations team, joining Tina Lockwood and Ben Jones.
Kay, formerly of a US-global international law firm, is renowned for her expertise in complex restructurings, particularly those where private credit and private equity sponsors are involved, and her hire complements the firm's continued investment in its integrated international private equity and leveraged finance practice.
Kay has extensive experience of advising clients on difficult cross-border situations, with a recent focus on situations in Europe and the Middle East. Kay will leverage the firm's strong European and Middle Eastern platforms to support the firm's strategic growth in those regions.
She will also enhance the capabilities of the firm's expanding Restructuring and Special Situations cross-border group -- which has seen increased global demand for its services.
Commenting on the hire, Ben Jones said: Kay is a first-class restructuring leader and is highly regarded by her clients and peers. Her experience in acting for secondary investors, private equity investors and direct lenders in stressed and distressed cross-border situations is strategically aligned with the firm's continuing investment in our restructuring capabilities. We very much look forward to Kay joining the team.
On joining Simmons, Kay commented: Simmons' restructuring practice is highly regarded in the market and I'm very excited by the opportunity to bring my expertise to the firm to support its expansion. Among the firm's many strengths, its impressive European footprint is a stand-out asset, and one which I'm excited to further develop through close cross-border, cross-practice collaboration.
