International law firm Simmons & Simmons has added to its dispute resolution (DR) team in Singapore by hiring partner Lijun Chui.
Joining from another international law firm based in Singapore, Lijun specialises in international commercial dispute resolution and investigations in the Asia-Pacific region in the technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) sector and the financial sector.
Both a Singapore and English qualified lawyer, Lijun also brings experience across retail, construction, infrastructure, shipping and energy. Her technology expertise extends to supporting clients on disputes and investigations in areas including cybersecurity, data and emerging technology.
The new partner hire means that over the last six months, Simmons has more than doubled the size of its DR team in Singapore, from two partners to five – significantly enhancing its capabilities.
Lijun’s move follows the hire of partner Terence Seah in February, alongside Steven Kaye, who joins the Singapore team in July after moving from the firm’s London office. All three partners join DR partners Mohammed Reza and Benson Lim.
Simmons offers both international and Singapore law advice through its Joint Law Venture with the JWS Asia Law Corporation. Together, its expertise spans cross-border and domestic financial and commercial disputes; internal and regulatory investigations; compliance; litigation strategy; arbitration; commodities and trade-related disputes, and construction and projects disputes.
Emily Monastiriotis, international head of Dispute Resolution at Simmons, commented: “Lijun is a superb addition to our team in Singapore, bringing to the firm an impressive range of expertise in international disputes and investigations across multiple sectors. Her hire means that we have now more than doubled the size of our team in Singapore – a move which greatly strengthens our ability to support more clients on a range of complex, cross-border disputes.”
Lijun Chui commented: “With its strong international presence and close alignment with my specialisms and sector focus, the Simmons team in Singapore is an excellent fit for my practice. I’m excited to be joining at a time of significant growth for the local DR team, and I’m confident my range of expertise will help to expand the firm’s reach.”
