15 May 2025

Squire Patton Boggs has hired Jason O’Donnell to lead its real estate practice in Ireland. Mr. O’Donnell joins from Irish firm A&L Goodbody, bringing more than a decade of experience advising on complex real estate transactions across Ireland and internationally.

Dennis Agnew, managing partner in Ireland, said: “We are delighted to welcome Jason to our leadership team in Dublin. Our cross-border M&A practice has gone from strength to strength in Ireland and adding Jason’s real estate experience and acumen is another significant expansion of our business.”

Jason O’Donnell added: “I am thrilled to join Squire Patton Boggs at a time of dynamic growth for the firm in Ireland. The opportunity to build a leading real estate practice within such a globally connected platform is very exciting and I look forward to working with my talented colleagues across the firm to support our clients in driving their most ambitious projects forward.”

Mr. O’Donnell is a senior commercial real estate lawyer with extensive experience advising clients across sectors as diverse as technology, energy, retail, financial services and hospitality. Recent highlights include acting for Oaktree on the refinance and subsequent disposal of its portfolio of 8 retail parks in Ireland; advising the Land Development Agency on its acquisition of the ‘Project Shoreline’ development site in North Dublin; advising Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation on its acquisition of Kerry Group’s consumer foods, meats and meals business; and acting for Ruby Hotels in relation to its purpose-built 272 bedroom ‘Ruby Molly’ hotel in Dublin city centre.

Since launching in Dublin in May 2023, Squire Patton Boggs’ Ireland team has doubled in size and moved into expanded premises in Ella House, Merrion Squire.  The team has added tax, anti-trust, and now real estate capabilities to its core M&A and private equity transactional practice and has been shortlisted as Corporate Law Firm of the Year at the Irish Investor Awards for the past two years.
