“We're really pleased to be adding a lawyer of Stuart's seniority and quality to our ranks, said Justin McClelland, Co-Head of Commercial Litigation, Stephenson Harwood. He has a well-earned market-leading reputation, with decades of experience advising on some of the most complex and high-profile arbitrations globally. His investor-state experience broadens our offering – while his considerable experience in areas such as Technology, Energy Transition and Transportation reflects the firm's strategic priorities. With London remaining a global leader in international arbitration, and the demand for arbitration continuing to rise, adding to our bench strength in this area is key.
Kamal Shah, Head of International Arbitration, Stephenson Harwood added: We have a long-established reputation for the quality and range of our international arbitration work. Adding a lawyer of Stuart's pedigree is a real coup for the team given the synergies between our practices. I have known and respected Stuart for over a decade, overlapping on various initiatives – most recently our collaboration with Emilia Onyema at SOAS to co-author the African Promise to increase representation of African arbitration practitioners on various fronts. His practice, approach and values align perfectly with ours, and we're thrilled to welcome him to the team.”
Stephenson Harwood has a recognised market-leading international arbitration practice, known for its expertise in managing complex and substantial arbitrations worldwide. In the past decade, it has handled some of the most high-profile arbitrations, as well as proceedings to enforce, or resist the enforcement of, arbitral awards in various jurisdictions around the world.
