PARTNER MOVES - Thomas Labuda Jr. rejoins Dentons’ restructuring, insolvency and bankruptcy team in Chicago

04 Apr 2023

Dentons announces that Thomas Labuda Jr. has returned to the Firm’s Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy (RIB) practice as a partner in the Chicago office. Labuda offers clients more than 25 years of experience across an array of in-and-out-of-court restructuring transactions with a particular focus on mass tort and liability management transactions.

Labuda represents clients across a range of complex domestic and cross-border bankruptcies and out-of-court restructurings, including debtors, lenders, official creditor and equity committees, insurers, landlords and purchasers of distressed assets in all phases of restructurings. He focuses significantly on advising public and private companies in addressing significant mass tort and other legacy liability issues through out-of-court corporate optimizations and restructuring proceedings. Additionally, Labuda advises investment banks and financial advisers in Chapter 11 and other distressed situations.

“Tom’s skill set adds considerable value to our practice and clients, and we are excited to welcome him back to the RIB team,” said Tania Moyron, chair of the Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy group. “Tom is a sophisticated restructuring lawyer with a track record of successfully handling complex matters, and his extensive experience in the mass tort practice area will immediately benefit our clients across the US and beyond.”

Labuda is also an experienced litigator with first-chair trial experience in a variety of business-related matters in state and federal courts, including confirmation hearings and other contested bankruptcy and non-bankruptcy matters. Previously, Labuda was in private practice, including starting his career at Dentons and its legacy firms, where he practiced for 18 years.
