PARTNER MOVES - Weil Adds Bankruptcy and Restructuring Partner Ryan Preston Dahl in New York

19 Jan 2018

International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced today that Ryan Preston Dahl has joined the Firm as a partner. He is part of Weil’s Business Finance & Restructuring practice and is based in the Firm’s New York office.

Ryan has significant experience advising both debtors and creditors on complex bankruptcy and restructuring matters, which will complement and further strengthen our market-leading practice, said Weil Executive Partner Barry Wolf.

Ray Schrock, Co-Chair of Weil’s Business Finance & Restructuring Department, commented: We are excited to welcome Ryan to the Firm. His broad range of transactional and litigation experience across a wide array of industries will make him a great asset to our world-renowned practice.

Mr. Dahl joins Weil from the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he was a partner. He has extensive experience representing publicly- and privately-held debtors, distressed investors, and financial sponsors in special situations, out of court restructurings and distressed acquisitions, and in-court chapter 11 processes through prepackaged, prearranged, and traditional restructurings. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a Morehead-Cain Scholar, and his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was elected Order of the Coif.

I am very excited to join Weil’s distinguished Business Finance & Restructuring practice. I look forward to being part of the team and working with my new colleagues around the world to help our clients with their most complex bankruptcy and restructuring needs, said Mr. Dahl.

About Weil’s Business Finance & Restructuring Practice

Weil, one of the leading business finance and restructuring firms in the world, not only invented much of what is standard today, but has also been involved in almost every type of consensual and litigated restructuring transaction in the United States since the 1970s. Weil has served as chief debtors’ counsel in five of the six largest U.S. bankruptcy filings in history and has represented clients in numerous complicated international insolvencies. Our experience extends to representing companies and creditors in exchange offers, debt for equity swaps, pre-packaged and pre-arranged chapter 11 cases, as well as conventional chapter 11 reorganizations. Unlike most other large firms, Weil’s broad-based experience also includes numerous creditor representations, representations of purchasers and sellers of distressed assets, and substantial litigation.
