Womble Bond Dickinson announced that Robert N. Hancock, Jr., has joined the firm’s Business Litigation Practice Group as a partner in Houston. Hancock brings more than two decades of experience advising clients in complex construction matters, commercial litigation, arbitration, mediation, construction related legislation, construction contract drafting/negotiations, business strategy, risk management, OSHA citations, regulations, acquisitions, insurance, and construction project operations. His construction dispute practice spans a broad range of subjects, including contract disputes, construction defect claims, delay, acceleration and disruption claims, construction related insurance coverage, bond claims, construction liens, personal injury claims, and environmental and toxic tort matters.
Hancock represents stakeholders across the construction industry, such as owners, general contractors, subcontractors, sureties, suppliers, design professionals, and material providers. Prior to his legal practice, he spent several years in construction management roles, contributing to commercial, heavy highway, power, petrochemical, and industrial process projects at companies such as H.B. Zachry, W.S. Bellows, and Austin Commercial. Hancock also serves as outside general counsel for a number of his clients.

A recognized leader in legal and construction circles, in addition to chairing the Houston Bar Association’s Construction Section, Hancock is a Fellow of the Construction Lawyers Society of America and actively participates in professional organizations such as the Associated General Contractors of Texas and the Houston Area Associated Builders and Contractors.
