Royal Mail - IPO

Slaughter and May was the lead legal adviser to Royal Mail plc (Royal Mail) on its initial public offering and admission to listing. Royal Mail is the leading provider of postal and delivery services in the UK and is the UK's designated universal service provider.

Royal Mail’s shares have now been admitted to the premium listing segment of the Official List and to trading on the main market for listed securities of the London Stock Exchange.

Slaughter and May worked closely with Royal Mail’s in-house Legal & Compliance team and with Royal Mail’s other external legal advisers.

Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP advised Royal Mail on the US law aspects of its IPO, Herbert Smith Freehills advised on the competition law and UK postal regulatory aspects of its IPO, Eversheds advised Royal Mail on industrial relations matters and CMS Cameron McKenna advised Royal Mail on the Government’s transfer of a 10% stake in Royal Mail to eligible employees.
