RPC has advised Orion Media, the leading radio broadcaster in the Midlands, on a multi-million pound multi-year deal to switch their national advertising sales from Global Radio to Bauer Media.
Orion Media owns eight radio stations that broadcast across the Midlands including Free Radio and Gem 106. They are the most listened to commercial radio brands in the Midlands, broadcasting to 1.2 million listeners a week. [1]
RPC advised its new client, Orion Media, on all aspects of the deal.
The complex deal sees Orion Media partner with Bauer Media, the publishing and broadcasting group to boost advertising sales. The deal provides advertisers with the opportunity to reach a wider audience across the country. This is critically important to Orion Media as advertising income is a major source of revenue for the company.
The sales for Orion’s eight radio stations, including Free Radio and Gem 106, will move to Bauer in July.
RPC’s media team on this transaction was led by Oliver Bray and included Rob Johnson. The team worked with Maurice Dwyer, RPC’s Orion Media client partner.
Oliver Bray, Partner at RPC, comments: “We are delighted to have been involved in this complex and significant deal. Orion Media’s sales partnership with Bauer Media was a fascinating project to work on especially given the deadlines involved.”
Adrian Serle, Commercial Director of Orion Media, adds: “The RPC team did a terrific job for us, working tirelessly to deliver this deal on an extremely tight timetable. We were very impressed with their blend of clear thinking and commerciality, all delivered with professionalism and good humour."
