Simpson Thacher Represents Underwriters in Dual-Listed Initial Public Offering of LINE Corporation

The Firm represented the underwriters, led by joint global coordinators Morgan Stanley, Nomura Securities, Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan, in the initial public offering of LINE Corporation. A total of 35,000,000 shares of common stock were sold in the global offering, including 22,000,000 shares (deliverable in the form of shares or American Depositary Shares (ADSs)) in an international offering, including the United States, and 13,000,000 shares sold as part of a domestic Japanese offering. The global offering, which was priced at ¥3,300 per share, or $32.84 per ADS, raised approximately ¥115 billion in gross proceeds. The ADSs began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on July 14, 2016 under the ticker symbol “LN” and on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange on July 15, 2016 under the securities identification code “3938.”

LINE is a leading global platform for mobile messaging and communication services, content distribution and advertising. The foundation of LINE’s platform is its mobile messaging application, which operates on all major mobile operating systems and enables LINE’s users to communicate through free instant messaging and voice and video calls, and which serves as a smart portal to LINE’s other applications and services such as mobile games, music, job posting and restaurant reservation services.
