05 Feb 2016

Slaughter and May advised BRF S.A. (BRF), the Brazil-based public listed food company, in relation to its acquisition, through its UK subsidiary BRF Invicta Limited, of Universal Meats (UK) Limited and its subsidiaries (Universal Meats).

BRF is one of the world's largest food companies and is a global leader in exporting animal proteins and in producing foods that reach more than 120 countries in five continents. Universal Meats is a UK food distributor focused largely on the food services sector. The acquisition, which completed in February 2016, is in line with BRF's strategic plan of globalisation, accessing local markets, strengthening its brands, distribution and expanding its product portfolio around the globe.
