Slaughter and May advised DONG Energy - acquisition of project rights for Hornsea Projects Two and Three

24 Aug 2015

Slaughter and May advised DONG Energy on its acquisition of SMart Wind, a company established as a joint venture between Mainstream Renewable Power and Siemens Project Ventures to develop offshore wind projects in the Hornsea Zone, together with certain other companies relating to SMart Wind's development of the Hornsea Zone. The Hornsea Zone forms part of The Crown Estate's Round 3 offshore wind programme.

The acquisition includes the project rights for Hornsea Projects Two and Three and means that DONG Energy is now the sole developer for the whole of the Hornsea Zone, one of the world's biggest offshore wind development zones, with a potential of 3 gigawatts offshore wind capacity.
