Slaughter and May advised Rambus Inc. on its acquisition of all outstanding shares in Smart Card Software Limited for £64.7 million in cash. Rambus Inc. creates cutting-edge semiconductor and IP products, spanning memory and interfaces to security, smart sensors and lighting.

The acquired group includes Bell Identification B.V. (Bell ID), a recognised leader in mobile payments, and Ecebs Limited (Ecebs), a leading supplier of smart ticketing systems to the UK transport markets, which has developed software to meet the growing demand for cloud-based, secure ticketing schemes. The Bell ID and Ecebs technologies and solutions will support the Rambus Cryptography Research portfolio of products and services, providing a broad range of secure provisioning and management solutions.
