SVEZA group acquires plywood business in Tuymen

06 Mar 2018

Baker McKenzie represented SVEZA, one of the world leaders in the natural birch plywood market, in connection with the acquisition of Tuymen Plywood Plant and two of its satellite companies in Tuymen. The acquired companies are major producers of large-sized plywood in Russia, supplying their products to various Russian and foreign construction companies as well as those engaged in machine, aviation and shipbuilding. The transaction is part of SVEZA’s strategy to increase its production volumes by expanding its portfolio with potential high-growth businesses.

The Baker McKenzie team was led by St. Petersburg Managing Partner Maxim Kalinin with key input from associates Roman Ishmukhametov and Olga Pankova.

Baker McKenzie advised SVEZA on various aspects of structuring the transaction, assisted with obtaining the antimonopoly consent and drafting and negotiating transaction documents, as well as provided general day-to-day support to Sveza during all stages of the transaction.

“Our successful cooperation with SVEZA demonstrates Baker McKenzie’s commitment to local Russian clients and our high qualification in supporting complex transactions under Russian law,” noted Maxim Kalinin.
