Taylor Wessing has advised the management team of Sporting Index on the sale of the business by Hg Capital to a private strategic investor in online sports betting.
Sporting Index, founded in 1992, is a leader in sports spread betting, providing customers with a betting method across a wide variety of sports, as well as political and showbiz events. Over the last four years Sporting Index has expanded and, under the Sporting Solutions brand, has become known as a leading provider of outsourced sports trading services, covering data management, modelling, pricing data and software.
The Taylor Wessing team was led by James Goold, partner and head of the firm's Private Equity practice, who comments: "This deal represents a fantastic opportunity for Sporting Index. With the support of the new owner, management can look forward to expanding the B2C offering and maximising the rapidly growing B2B pricing and software solutions business. We wish them all the best for the future."
James was supported by senior associate Lowri Westray and trainee associate Catherine Williams.
The terms of the transaction, which is subject to regulatory approval, have not been disclosed.
