International law firm Taylor Wessing has advised Try Market Halls, a group of UK-based property investors and restaurateurs, on their new upmarket food halls scheme launching in London and across the UK in 2018.
The project will see three permanent food markets opening in central London this year, including Market Hall Fulham, Market Hall Victoria and Market Hall West End. The flagship West End market will open in Autumn 2018 at the former BHS store on Oxford Street, and its launch is set to coincide with the pedestrianisation of Oxford Circus. Three further London openings and various regional launches are expected to be announced by the end of 2018.
Taylor Wessing has worked closely with Try Market Halls on every aspect of the deal since January 2017. Senior associate Natasha Cooper provided advice on the group’s corporate structure and funding options, while consultant Eamonn Cannon and senior associates Jill Hamilton and Victoria Butcher advised on the acquisition of a number of sites across the UK. Partner Richard Bursby and senior associate Priya Chhaya acted on revenue sharing agreements between Try Market Halls and traders.
Commenting on the deal, Eamonn Cannon, consultant at Taylor Wessing, said:
Market Halls is a very exciting venture, not only because of its originality, but also because of the quality, vision and energy of the team driving it. We are very pleased to have supported the team in the delivery of the project so far, and we’re now on the point of signing up for the first of the regional venues.
Andy Lewis-Pratt, CEO of Try Market Halls, added:
Over the last 12 months, we have been visiting various sites around the world to ensure our food halls are the best and most exciting the country has ever seen. Taylor Wessing has provided crucial and invaluable support throughout this journey and the outcome of the deal is a success for both sides.
