Taylor Wessing has recently acted on a pro bono basis for Zip Zap Charity, a newly formed charity which will aim to advance the education of young people on the subject of HIV and to promote social inclusion by preventing misplaced stigma associated with the disease.
'Zip Zap' is providing funding for the provision of facilities and workshops for the training of young people suffering from HIV and AIDS by carrying out a number of charitable programmes. The charity offers circus workshops, which teach circus acts to HIV positive children and adults who are receiving antiretroviral treatment, and puts on performances to raise awareness about AIDS and HIV. The trustees have also decided to support a programme called 'A Second Chance', which rehabilitates and reintegrates young people living on the street back into their communities. Subsidized accommodation will also be offered in Cape Town, where students are to receive formal and informal training on how to be self-sufficient, generate sustainable income and integrate into communities.
Zip Zap is raising funds in the UK through sales of Cirque du Soleil tickets for the spectacular ‘Kooza’ show, which is currently showing at the Royal Albert Hall. All of the funds received will go towards supporting the charity. Tickets can be purchased by contacting Ann Bowler at Frog Capital Limited on [email protected] or +44 207 833 0555.
The Taylor Wessing team advising Zip Zap was led by Kyra Motley and Andrew Goodman, supported by Suzy Shinner.
