Travers Smith advises long standing clients Bridgepoint Development Capital and Pulsant

08 Jul 2014

A Travers Smith team led by corporate partner Helen Croke advised long standing clients Bridgepoint Development Capital ("BDC"), a major international private equity firm, and the shareholders of Pulsant, the provider of IT infrastructure services, on the sale and final exit of Pulsant to Oak Hill Capital Partners.

Travers Smith was previously involved in the formation of Pulsant on all four 'buy and build' acquisitions of Lumison, Blue Square Data, Dedipower and ScoLocate.

Pulsant was created in October 2010 when BDC acquired Lumison, an Edinburgh-headquartered UK provider of connectivity, hosting and managed IT services. This was the first step in a 'buy and build' strategy to create a 'one stop shop' IT services supplier to the underserved UK SME market.

The business subsequently became the re-branded Pulsant business through the three acquisitions of Blue Square Data, a colocation provider, acquired in February 2011; Dedipower, a managed services provider and operator of three data centres, acquired in September 2011; and ScoLocate, a managed data centre services business headquartered in Scotland, acquired in 2012.

The Travers Smith team included corporate partner Helen Croke supported by corporate associates Joanna Roberts and Tom Hartwright. Tax advice was provided by Simon Skinner supported by tax associate Jessica Kemp.  The finance team was banking partner Matthew Ayre and banking associate Jonathan Clapshaw.
