Travers Smith advises Voyage Care on the acquisition of specialist care provider Independent Living Group

12 Mar 2013

Travers Smith corporate partner Paul Dolman and senior associate Chris Flavin have advised Voyage Care (“Voyage”), a care home operator backed by HG Capital, on its acquisition of specialist care provider Independent Living Group (“ILG”). ILG has over 500 employees and operates 28 services in South East England providing residential care and supported living for adults with learning disabilities, Huntington’s Disease, Acquired Brain Injury, communication difficulties and additional complex needs.

Commenting on the news, Voyage’s chief executive Bruce McKendrick said: "Like Voyage, ILG focuses on its people and the provision of quality, specialist care. We welcome this high quality business into the Voyage portfolio and believe we will learn much from each other to make the enlarged business even stronger."

The acquisition of ILG is the second acquisition that Travers Smith have advised Voyage in relation to, having previously acted for Voyage when it acquired Solor Care in April 2012.  The shareholder of ILG was advised by Hogan Lovells.
