Zo Hoida, Real Estate Partner at top 45 Law Firm, Weightmans, has advised a property investor from China on the purchase of a Grade II listed building in the centre of Wolverhampton.
The property occupies a commanding position overlooking Queen Square in the heart of Wolverhampton City Centre, and comprises a mix of retail units on the ground floor levels with office accommodation (with planning permission for a change to residential) above. The property has been acquired by the Liu family, a Chinese investor. Leading on the purchase of the commercial property, Zo said:
"It has been extremely rewarding working with Mr Liu on this deal. We had to commit to very tight timescales, having to meet key deadlines for building surveys before Christmas. Our client plans to put in programme of repairs and has many exciting plans for what they might do with the property. It’s great to be involved with such positive plans for future improvement for this prime city centre location."
Zo connected with Mr Liu through her work with the Birmingham China Business Forum, which encourages investment from China into the Midlands and vice versa.
Investor Junjie Liu commented:
"From our perspective, Weightmans simplified the legal process and were able to turn the necessary paperwork around in record time. I am looking forward to developing this great building into something that the people of Wolverhampton can enjoy."
Zo was supported on the Weightmans team by Tax Partner, Haydn Rogan, and Real Estate Solicitor, Karen Hill.
