Weightmans secures £3m investment for Liverpool music publisher

27 Mar 2017

Lawyers from the Manchester office of Weightmans LLP have secured a multi-million pound fund investment for an independent music publisher.

Sentric Music has secured £3m initial investment from the Business Growth Fund (BGF) to help accelerate its expansion plans.

The company works with more than 90,000 songwriters, providing music publishing, licensing opportunities and royalty collection services. In addition to expanding internationally, it plans to use the investment from the BGF to continue to develop its products, services and platform. They currently employ 40 staff across Liverpool, London, Hamburg, Amsterdam, New York and Los Angeles.

Weightmans Associate Anna Kerrane was legal advisor to Sentric, alongside Partners Haydn Rogan and Sarah Walton from the firm’s Corporate team.

Anna said:

“We are delighted to have helped Sentric secure such a successful outcome – this funding will see the business go from strength to strength and we are excited to be on that journey with them.”

Chris Meehan, founder and chief executive of Sentric, said:

"With the support of our early investors and the songwriters we work with, Sentric has enjoyed exceptional growth during the past decade. We want to continue growing, developing and exploring new opportunities.

“This was a complex deal with a tight deadline and Anna and the Weightmans team went above and beyond the call of duty to deliver a fantastic outcome. They made a very daunting process manageable for my team and board.”
