Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised Sound Oil, the Mediterranean-focused upstream oil and gas company, on the development of its business strategy with the Moroccan Oil and Gas Investment Fund (“OGIF”) in relation to the acquisition of part of the Tendrara licence, onshore Morocco.
The onshore Tendrara Licence is a large scale onshore gas discovery with significant exploration upside. It covers a total area of 14,500 square kilometres in northeast Morocco.
The WFW Italy team was led by the Head of Italy and partner Eugenio Tranchino, who has provided assistance in connection with the Italian-law related contractual aspects of the entire exploration activity.
Eugenio Tranchino commented: “The transaction represents the first transformational deal in the development of the gas strategy of Sound Oil in the Mediterranean area and it is an important milestone in the oil & gas sector in the region. The deal is a clear example the key role of WFW in the domestic and international energy sector.”
