Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Offshore Energy Pty Ltd (Offshore) on its strategic partnership for the development of Australia's first offshore wind project.

Offshore has entered into a formal partnership with Danish infrastructure fund Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners to develop the 'Star of the South' offshore wind farm.

The Star of the South will be located in the Bass Strait between 10km and 25km off the coast of Victoria's Gippsland region and is the first offshore wind farm in Australia. When fully completed, it will be the country's largest renewable energy project. It is expected that the project will be developed in stages to a capacity of approximately 2000 MW. The Star of the South will undertake detailed environmental and feasibility studies to determine viability and gain the required regulatory approval.
