White & Case Advises on West Gate Tunnel Project

08 Jan 2018

Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Transurban Limited on all aspects of Transurban's Market-Led Proposal to the Victorian Government to build the AU$6.7 billion West Gate Tunnel Project.

"The West Gate Tunnel Project is the first project to be submitted under the Victorian Government's new Market-Led Proposals Guideline" said Melbourne-based White & Case partner Alan Rosengarten who led the project team. "This was a complex process, involving a large number of stakeholders who worked extremely hard to achieve this outcome."

"White & Case's role on this project confirms the depth of experience our newly established Australian offices have in relation to ground-breaking projects across Australia and the Asia-Pacific" said Melbourne-based White & Case partner Jo Draper, who also advised Transurban throughout the project. "We would like to congratulate Transurban on achieving this significant milestone".

The project achieved financial close on 11 December 2017. Construction is expected to commence shortly.

The West Gate Tunnel Project addresses a number of critical challenges in relation to traffic, growth and liveability across Melbourne. The project will create 6,000 new jobs, provide an alternative to the West Gate Bridge, and remove thousands of trucks from local streets.

The White & Case team which advised on the transaction was led by partners Alan Rosengarten, Jo Draper, Tim Power and Cameron Watson, supported by counsel Fiona Curl and associates, Oendrila Roy, Alex Wilson, Donovan Ang, Peter Rattray, Amanda Osuchowski, Alena Kosmin, Mikio Kobayashi, Andrea Castle, Lachlan Barth, Sarah Oh, Christina Koravos and practice assistant Linda Burton.
