Wragge & Co packages up acquisition for Huhtamäki

Wragge & Co's Corporate team has advised Finnish client Huhtamäki Oyj on the acquisition of UK based BCP Fluted Packaging Ltd in a deal worth £16 million.

BCP specialises in corrugated packaging for the foodservice, confectionery and cosmetics markets. The Lancashire based business employs around 120 people and recorded net sales in 2012/13 of approximately €18 million.

With the acquisition Huhtamäki, a long standing client of Wragge & Co, continues to implement its strategy of quality growth and expand its product offering. Headquartered in Finland, Huhtamäki is a global manufacturer of consumer and speciality packaging with net sales of €2.3 billion in 2012. The Group serves foodservice and consumer goods markets with approximately 14,200 employees in 60 manufacturing units in 31 countries.

Julian Henwood, partner in Wragge & Co's Corporate team and head of Wragge & Co's Nordic desk, led on the deal. He was principally assisted by corporate associate Amar Adatia.

The Wragge & Co team also included Caroline Frost, a solicitor in the Real Estate team; Jordanna Popli, an associate in the Intellectual Property team; Nisha Lad, a senior solicitor in the Employment team; Patrick Allan, an associate in the Tax team; Will Howard, a solicitor in the Commercial team and Laura Dick, a trainee in the Corporate team.

Highlights include the £85 million management buyout of specialist outdoor retailer Mountain Warehouse and the £183 million sale of Rosemont Pharmaceuticals by CBPE Capital LLP to Perrigo.
