Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co helps AEW UK REIT Plc to raise £100 million on its launch

13 May 2015

Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co's Investment Funds team has advised AEW UK REIT Plc (AEW UK REIT) on a fundraising worth £100 million.

The fundraising is in conjunction with its shares being admitted to the premium listing segment of the Official List and to trading on the London Stock Exchange's main market for listed securities.

AEW UK REIT is a new listed REIT that will invest in freehold and leasehold properties across the whole spectrum of the commercial property sector (office properties, retail warehouses, high street retail and industrial/warehouse properties) to achieve a balanced portfolio with a diversified tenant base.

The assets of AEW UK REIT are managed by AEW Investment Management LLP, part of AEW Global, one of the world's largest real estate managers, which has €41.2 billion of assets under management.

Partner Nick Heather led the team advising AEW UK REIT, with assistance from fellow funds partner Kris Rogers, corporate associate Rachael Orchard and tax partner Elliot Weston who advised on all aspects of the REIT regime.

Nick said: "We are delighted to have advised AEW UK REIT on its launch. We are certainly capitalising on our preeminent REIT expertise, having already advised two other REITs, Empiric Student Property PLC and GCP Student Living PLC, on their IPOs".

Dexion Capital plc acted as sponsor, financial adviser and sole bookrunner to the launch and was advised by Olswang LLP.

Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co's leading Investment Funds team has a strong reputation for closed ended listed funds, advising issuers, investment management houses and the investment banks and brokers that advise them.

Recent highlights for the team include acting for Winterflood Securities on the £800 million launch of Woodford Patient Capital Trust plc, advising Jefferies International Limited on the launch of VPC Speciality Lending Investments plc which raised £200 million, and acting for Toro Limited on its listing on the Specialist Funds Market with an initial capitalisation of €350 million.
