PARTNER MOVES - DLA Piper hires financial regulatory partner in Germany

10 Sep 2018

DLA Piper has announced that financial services regulatory lawyer, Dennis Kunschke, will be joining the firm as partner in its Finance and Projects practice, based in Frankfurt.

Dennis Kunschke will be joining the firm in December 2018 from Allen & Overy, where he has been working since 2013. He specializes in financial supervisory law, with a particular focus on banking supervisory and investment law / asset management. He also covers the FinTech sector, the Eurozone law of monetary policy and central banks as well as payment services law. From mid-2013 to the beginning of 2014, he was seconded to the European Central Bank where he was – inter alia – invited to act as rapporteur for the legal committee.

Before joining Allen & Overy, Dennis was an advisor at the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) and, prior to that, he worked at a leading international law firm in Munich. Dennis will be joining with senior associate Elena Bachmann.

Commenting on his appointment, Dr Benjamin Parameswaran and Dr Konrad Rohde, managing partners of DLA Piper in Germany, said: ""Dennis' appointment is a key step towards successfully extending our financial supervisory law offering and builds on the firm’s investment in what we see as an important market and growth area. We are confident that his expertise will add great depth to the practice and add significant value to our clients.""

Martin Bartlam, International Group Head of Finance & Projects, said: ""We are delighted to be expanding our European financial regulation capabilities with Frankfurt being increasingly important in the changing financial world. Dennis brings a breath of enthusiasm and perspective to how regulatory and technological developments will impact the market in Germany and the wider Europe.""

Dennis Kunschke said: ""I am very much looking forward to joining DLA Piper. The firm has an exceptionally strong Finance and Projects offering across its global network and this provides an ideal platform from which to provide the best possible advice to clients.""
