PARTNER MOVES - King & Spalding Recruits Three-Lawyer Real Estate Team in Paris

04 Feb 2019

King & Spalding has added a three-lawyer real estate team, led by partner Guillaume Aubatier, to its Corporate, Finance & Investments practice in Paris.

Aubatier’s practice covers complex corporate real estate matters with a particular emphasis on real estate investments, including acquisition and disposal of assets/vehicles, large French and pan-European portfolios, asset management, construction, finance, restructuring and contentious matters. He is ranked in both Chambers Europe and Legal 500 Europe.

Aubatier joins with counsel Dorian Scemama and associate Malvina Dahan. The team previously worked at Ashurst in Paris, where Aubatier was a partner.

“Guillaume is a leading real estate lawyer and, alongside Dorian and Malvina, the new team has the ability to provide the full suite of real estate advice to clients on their most sophisticated matters,” said Todd Holleman, head of the firm’s Corporate, Finance & Investments practice. “The hires are the latest step in developing our pan-European real estate practice and the team is ideally placed to serve funds, developers and financial institutions across multiple jurisdictions, including France, the wider EMEA region and the U.S.”

Aubatier is the fourth partner to join King & Spalding’s Paris office in the past year. Last summer, the office welcomed international arbitration specialists Marc-Olivier Langlois from Hughes Hubbard and Laurent Jaeger from Orrick as well as M&A and private equity partner Laurent Bensaid from Hoche Société d’Avocats.

“Guillaume and his team represent further exceptional additions to our Paris practice and together with the other recent hires are prime examples of the sort of quality lawyers that we are proud to be attracting to the firm,” added Vanessa Benichou, office managing partner in Paris. “We now have more than 25 lawyers in Paris and we are targeting further growth in our transactional and disputes teams, including in M&A, finance and employment law.”
